Ready-to-use AWS EventBridge config
Drop this into your project. The expression is the one above.
cron(0 0 L * ? *)aws events put-rule --name my-rule --schedule-expression "cron(0 0 L * ? *)"The AWS EventBridge fields, in order: minute (0-59), hour (0-23), day-of-month (1-31), month (1-12), day-of-week (1-7, 1 = Sunday), year (1970-2199, required).
Things to watch out for in AWS EventBridge
- You must use ? in the day-of-week field when you set a day of month, and the year field is required.
- EventBridge supports L, W and #, so month-end and nth-weekday rules work without a guard.
- EventBridge rules always run in UTC. If you want a local time zone with DST support, use EventBridge Scheduler instead.
The common mistake with this schedule
Unix cron has no "last day" symbol. The common 28-31 workaround fires up to four times a month, so the job must check that tomorrow is the 1st.
