Text diff checker
Paste two versions and see exactly what changed, line by line.
Reading a diff
Green lines were added, red lines were removed, and unchanged lines are shown in grey context. Comparing config files before a deploy, two API responses, or two drafts of a document are the usual uses. Unlike an eyeball check, a diff will not miss a single changed character.
Frequently asked questions
How does the comparison work?
It finds the longest common sequence of lines between the two texts, the same idea behind git diff. Lines only in the left text are shown as removed, lines only in the right as added.
Can I compare JSON or code?
Yes. For JSON, pretty-print both sides first with the JSON formatter (and tick "Sort keys") so formatting differences do not hide real ones.
What do the ignore options do?
"Ignore case" treats upper and lower case as equal. "Ignore whitespace" collapses runs of spaces and trims line ends before comparing.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The diff is computed in your browser; nothing leaves your device.
