What you type stays with you
All tools on this site run in your browser. Cron expressions, JSON, SQL, XML, tokens and crontabs that you enter are processed locally and are not sent to our servers or stored by us. The only exception is the optional AI mode described below, which is off unless you turn it on.
Optional AI mode
On some deployments of the site the owner enables an optional AI mode (for example the AI explain tab in Unravel). When it is not enabled, no AI feature is shown and nothing in this section applies. When it is enabled, it is off by default and nothing is sent until you turn it on in a clear prompt and then press a button such as Explain with AI.
What is sent: the Java code (or question) you submitted, at most about 14,000 characters, the detail level you chose, and a short summary of what Unravel's own rule-based analysis found in it (concept names, step titles with line numbers, and risk titles). Nothing else from the page is sent: no cookies, account, other tool inputs or browsing history are included.
Where it goes: it is sent to a BackendBench serverless function, which forwards it to a third-party large-language-model API provider chosen by the site owner (an AI model hosting service). Your request is processed to produce the answer, which comes back to your browser. BackendBench does not store, log or reuse your code or the answer. The provider receives your request under its own terms and data handling policy, which we do not control, so do not paste secrets, passwords or code you are not allowed to share. Like any web request, your IP address is visible to the hosting service for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
Photos: Unravel does not read photos or screenshots, and no image is ever sent anywhere. Importing from a GitHub link fetches the file from GitHub directly in your browser.
How to turn it off: use the Turn off link next to the AI mode indicator at any time (this removes the saved choice from your browser), or clear this site's local storage. AI answers are labelled AI-generated: may contain mistakes; always check them against the code.
What is stored in your browser
The site uses your browser's local storage for small conveniences: your chosen time zone, your daily quiz streak, and, if you turn it on, your AI mode choice. You can clear this at any time in your browser settings.
Share links
When you use a share link, your expression and time zone are placed in the page address. Anyone you send the link to can read them.
